Description

That's right, there's Russian fighters on display too.

The Fulcrum (now I've got the urge to watch old Chuck episodes) is a Russian air superiority fighter, developed by Mikoyan and introduced August 1983. It, and its counterpart, the Sukhoi Su-27, were developed to counter America's F-15s and F-16s. Fulcrum is the NATO call-sign for this fighter, but hilariously enough, its also used (unofficially) by Russian pilots. Its primarily used in the Russain, Ukranian, and Indian Air Forces, but also by Yugoslavia, Serbia, Germany, Poland, Iraq, Etria, Iran, Cuba, Syria, and possibly Sudan.
The Fulcrum is also used tp provide flights for civilian passengers (which is kinda funny), which started due to financial problems at the Gromov Flight Research Institute (ah capitalism).

Oddly enought, the US also owns some Fulcrums. 21 Moldovan (a small country in Eastern Europe) aircraft were bought under the Nunn-Lugar Cooperative Threat Reduction program. 14 of these aircraft were Fulcrums with active radar jammers and the cpability to launch nuclear missiles. This was partly to make sure that they couldn't be sold to unfriendly 'rogue' states, and also to allow the US to evalute and collect data on the (Russian) fighters. Late 1997, they were sent to the National Air and Space Intelligence Center (NASIC), they many of the MiGs were belived to have been scrapped. I find it funny that the US legally bought Russian fighters; ah capitalism.
