Description

Edit: Again, thanks to Dodge WC15.

This was a lightweight, portable crew-served 105mm recoilless rifle, used for anti-tank work during the Vietnam War. It primarily fired air-cooled, breech-loaded, single-shot rifle fired fixed ammunition, though it could also handle antipersonnel-tracer flechette rounds. Normally used with a wheeled ground mount, it could also be vehicle-mounted. Its use as an anti-tank weapon was superceded by the BGM-71 TOW missile.

Note: This weapon is often described as a 106mm system; it is actually a 105mm, and was refered to a 106 to avoid confusion with incompatible 105mm ammo from the failed M27.

That appears to be an M-40 106 mm recoilless rifle. With it angled up like that the back blast out of the breech block would do more harm to the crew than to the enemy.
